Forrest Wannabe

So I saw on one person's comment on PerezHilton.com that they think the guy in Mariah's new video reminds them of Forrest Kline....so I watched and wasted precious moments of my time listening to Mariah Carey's new shizz...

and the guy does not look like Forrest AT ALL but...he does try to copy his movements and I think in the yard scene he was trying to get a little "Here In Your Arms" fashion going on. I think Forrest deserves some credit for being the inspiration of a Mariah Carey video! haha! Bet you thought you would never hear that!! Take a look for yourself...

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!! Everyone's talkin bout hellogoodbye

Check out the Article You had us at Hello by Amy Howard (here's a lil snippet of it):

Kline rushed the stage with Kurvink, Profeta and Head barreling behind.

"Them baggy sweat pants and the Reeboks with the straps," sang Kline.

The audience shrieked along with the T-Pain song reference. Kline introduced Head to the audience, warning them that they hadn't practiced yet.

rad old organ body (myspace bulletin)

hey guys, i need to hit you up for a favor.

me and my brooo travvy (that guy that looks like the singer of the killers whos usually around at the la/oc shows) are on the lookout for a cool old suitcase organ body like an ace tone, preferably busted, cause we just wanna hollow it out.

something alot like that would be rad. so if you have an old ace-tone, farfisa etc (especially ones in rad colors, red or mint or orange or something) email the contact on this craigslist ad. its not my email, so don't flood it pweeease.

email: sale-530585073@craigslist.org
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/msg/530585073.html

that would be AWESOME if somebody local had something. by the way, i have rediscovered the joy of craigslist. "craigslist: free" is my new favorite thing. i gave away a dishwasher on there and it went in like 2 minutes. its great. no more throwing things away in landfills. its all about local community donation recycling! in other happenings, im hanging out at home in the LBC. with snoop. on upcoming episodes of da fatherhood. not really. but i wish.

love, forrest

Happy New Year From Forrest (Myspace bulletin)

yeah! happy new years! or year. im sat at home watching a uh "interventions" marathon on a&e with chelsea and gordie and winnie. its PRETTY wild.

i wanna thank everybody for an awesome year. i mean it guys. i love you guys all so much.. you guys are my bitches. 4eva. totall-E. uh. it really has been a crazy year for us though, if you rationalize it and take a step back to really take it all in. we travelled to some far off and exotic places, sold a bunch of one song and quiiite a bit of a whole record, i got a second doggie... and now im at home, watching a show about people who are addicted to meth and on the verge of death. im living my dreams guys! im doooing it! im living amongst the stars, flying high! yayyyy!

a little highlight for me, a few months ago i built a studio in my garage (have i mentioned that before? a few times? uh.) and im home chillin, getting it all rad and recording little bits and pieces in between episodes of intervention. its the goal i've been workin toward for half a decade or so. and i owe it all to you! in a very real way its all possible because of you or veiwers like you. just like pbs. lets kiss.

so here's to a happy 2008 for all of you! may we all not border on the brink of death with a crippling substance addiction! weeee!

xoxo, forrest

New Myspace Blog (Comment on it yo! and give some kudos!)

Blog. Holiday Soiree.

sup dogger, im typin up a little bunk journal (from my bunk, on our bus, in the uk, on earth). we just played a SHREDDING game of age of empire (the war cheifs expansion pack) against the say anything guys (which we have been doing ALOT on this tour). well not against, it was mixed teams based on skill and xp points and civilization level. but of course right at the critical moment of conquest, the power went out, taking down our rad LAN and freezing the game. for the record: me alex marc and jeff TOTALLY had the other dudes. our troops had completely penetrated their base, taken down most of their assets and had little opposition. i mean it wasn't over. but still.

wait... that didn't happen... what i meant to say was we just hit it hard with some SHREDDING babes (with huge tits) with the say anything guys (which we have been doing ALOT on this tour). it was a mixed orgy based mostly on penis size, endurance, and general sex appeal. but of course right at the critical moment of climax some burly "chavs" rolled in and took down my rad boner. for the record: me alex marc and jeff TOTALLY were satisfying these hot babes. our penises had TOTALLY penetrated their vaginas, taken down most of their inhibitions and they had stopped crying rape a long while back. i mean, it wasn't over (i was FAR from done)... but still. true story. we're not losers.

so whats blowing my mind is that we only have 2 more uk shows with say anything (who we've gotten pretty close with over the last TWO MONTHSSS) and then one more on our own in ireland, and then we're going home. for longer than we have in the last 3 years. thats it. its just crazy because home life is so totally different than being on "the roooaaaad" everyday, living in a vehicle. i've gotten so used to waking up and having to walk somewhere cold to brush my teeth. at home i can go right from my bed to the bathroom. ALL INDOORS! its gonna be a wild party of convenience! but im gonna be too mega ultra busy too brush my teeth ever cause i'll be spending all my days in the garage like real men do. cause i turned my garage into a studio and im gonna nerd out in there and make some fresh new tunes for a few months and then its gonna be an all new hellogoodbye out on the scene. havin orgies. playin computer games.

so yah, its like a new chapter in our relationship is about to open up and no one quite knows where the story is going but we all have the feeling its going to be sexy. because the story is in a dirty magazine. but we only bought it for the articles. oh, but for a little something familiar, we're playing a quick lil' show at chain reaction in anaheim, ca like a little holiday party and to kick it old school. its a pretty small little place, so if you live around where we live, get some TIX. or give some TIX as a gift. cause its gonna be FESTIVE!!!

Thursday, Dec 27th
Anaheim, CA @ Chain Reaction
w/ the secret handshake, ryan daly

with the deepest sincerity, forrest

post-script: i feel like i should thank everyone who has taken some sort of interest in our goings ons, came out to some shows, bought a cd, looked at our website, you know whatev's. its been so cool the way things have gone for us and we're so lucky to have done the things we've done, and to have had the opportunity to do the things we kinda didn't wanna do so we passed on. if things are half as cool for us from here on out as they've been i will be majorly stoked. i will have major stokens. RAD!

NEW BULLETIN (GO UK)

From Myspace:

united kingdom!

hows it hangin' breh? so we've played two shows on our lil' tour of the united kingdom and they've been AWESOME! seriously, kids have been really cool to us and we're stoked. its really the last bit of touring we're gonna be doing for a while, and i know i've mentioned that quite a bit lately, but it's really given everything an air of urgency. the handful of dates we have left seems a little paltry now that we've finally reached the final bits, so i wanna just make the most of it, ya? so if you're coming to any of the shows, don't be shy (uh, not that most of you suffer from that problem. you scatty brits are pretty forward, actually. and to answer your question in advance: no, you can't have my glasses, tie, shirt, pants, shoes, jacket, dog... or uhm anything else. you may only have a hug. and a quick and tasteful tushee squeeze.) but yeah, i wanna hang out with you guys, while i still have you in my grasp ;). the buses in your country also happen to sorta be kinda mind numbingly boring... not to take away from your allure. you're very alluring. alluring is your middle name. united alluring kingdom. the third. esquire. oh wait do you say middle name here? don't you say surname or second name or pish posh scallywag or something? i've learned so much!

love, forrest scott kline, the second.

INTERVIEW (READ IT NOWWWWW)

Forrest from Hellogoodbye
Author: Pamela Lin
Review Date: 11/27/2007

With the exciting US MySpace tour at it's end, the boys relax, play hometown Los Angeles/Anaheim, and take a break before jetting off to UK for their December tour. BandNation catch up with Forrest on his time off before the show for to share some tour memories and what is coming up for them. If you haven't had a chance to catch them at on their US tour, fret not because the boys are back in town for an after Christmas special on December 27th at Chain Reaction - Anaheim, CA.

Hi there, Can you introduce yourself/yourselves and what do you in the band?

My name is Forrest, I sing and play guitar!

First of all, congratulations on the success of your album and tour, excited for your Thanksgiving break?

Oh god yes. Well. No. its only two days and then we have to fly internationally out of lax (yuck!). buuut im sitting at home right now so i can't complain. It feels gooood.

You’re on the last leg of your US Myspace Tour at the moment with Say Anything and the Polysics, how has that been for you?

It’s been a blast. There’s been a real good energy on this tour. i think its cause we're surrounded by friends and its sort of our last hurrah till after we record, so you kinda make a point to enjoy it.

Are you excited about heading over to the UK?

Yes. I love lax. No, again it’s especially exciting since we know we won’t just be back there next month again, so I think we'll take advantage of the moment.

How is the fan response to your music over there and how does it differ from the States?

uhm, well. It’s newer over there sorta, the cd came out like a year later there than it came out here, so everyone is bright eyed and bushy tailed. and we roll in with Duncan, our English tour manager , and he kinda vouches for us.

Do you have a ‘greatest moment’ on tour experience you can share?

I do but I wouldn't share it for all the world. uhm, I threw a pumpkin up in there air and our other english friend, Andy, was drunk (he’s English) and kinda freaked out and ran under it and it fell on his back really hard. It was wonderful.

What has been your favorite place to play and visit so far?

I think San Francisco might have been the best show on this tour. oh but in general? uh we went to the Bahamas for a radio contest thing and that was pretty surreal... and Paris was pretty neat. I like the US west coast most though.

We checked out your photo journal and saw that you had made a studio from your garage recently – how’s that going now? All set up?

juuust about. I’ve got my gear in there... though I took most of it out to bring along on tour, and construction is all done... though I haven't installed the overhead lighting yet. but I’ve been jammin out and tracking a few things when I’ve been home, which has been obviously very infrequently. I can’t get my boy Jeff Turzo to come down and show me how to treat the acoustics of the room either, as much as I try. So things are a little bouncey in there till I do it riiight.

Though you’re signed with Drive-Thru, you still record all your own music for your record. How important do you feel it is to have that complete creative control and ability to produce from start to finish?

Very important because Richard and Stefanie from drive thru have terrible taste in everything. just kidding. I mean, I guess we come from a place where that kind of thing is just obligatory, and when you’re asked a question about it, it’s like... what? That’s something people think about? I think its cause we're punk.

What is the recording and writing process for you?

I guess usually I get a melody or a beat or a sound or a lyric or whatever and then I’ll start working on the computer, tracking it and repeating it and writing other parts around it, till it’s a full grown song.

What can we expect from your future album now that you’re all set up in your new garage studio?

Self indulgent songs that others won’t enjoy I guess. But i suuure will. mmmm.

Why the name : Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs! ?

Sex appeal.

Do you have any favorite tracks on the album? And favorite tracks to play?

oh “it is love” is one of my faves i guess. me and Matt Mahaffey, who produced, did a sort of radio edit even though radio doesn't like it that I think might be even better. We added some tack piano played through a Leslie rotating speaker and more emo stuff that made it real sexy.

Over the past week we’ve had a great response from Fans of HGB to answer some questions, here are a few for you to answer:

Gabrielle Donoff asks: Are the lyrics of your songs based on real experiences/ real girls?

yeah, all of them. I’m not very imaginative, but I am very creepy.

Nicole R asks: Do you guys ever get really nervous before you go on stage? If you do then what do you do back stage before the show to help get rid of the nervousness?

uhm, I don’t reeeeaallly get nervous too much anymore, I just get a little blood flowing and warm up my hands.

kris oooo asks: did you ever think you would get this big? Btw, your music is amazing

However big we are is definitely bigger than I ever imagined. What we started doing was just a silly little ruse.

Heather Lee asks:
(to Forrest) when are you going to hurry up and marry Chelsea?

She hasn't asked me yet, are you asking me now?

What is your Favorite Color?

I am big on green and orange (separately) right now. Powder blue and chocolate is always hawt.

New Blog

Taken from hellogoodbye's Myspace:

a day at home, photojournal updates

hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii... hiiiiiiiii.

we've got a day off from the myspace music tour today and it falls perfectly at home. my chihuahua yorkie, gordles, gave me the welcome home gift of pee pee on my living room white shag rug. he gives that gift often, and i don't have the heart to tell him i don't have much use for it. but tomorrow we play san fran and immm excited!!!

i thought i'd take this moment of reliable high speed internet to upload some photojournal entries that have been a few weeks overdue (i've kept a photojournal since like 2002, which really comes in handy when you have an old friend like ryan come out to play guitar so you can show him old pictures of himself which dyed black hair and a little boy face). so if you've never looked at it, theres nearly a hundred posts with thousands of pictures that would make it oh so easy to stalk me and everyone i know, yay!

recent adds...

2007-06-21 - a night in paris!
2007-03-19 - bahamas vaycay!
2007-01-06 - big bear weekend 2007!

im quite the traveller, aren't i?

hellogoodbye halloweenies :)

Hellogoodbye takes stage, pre-Halloween
By Brendan O' Reilly in B-Section
Issue date: 11/8/07

On the eve of All Hallow's Eve, Say Anything and Hellogoodbye rocked Hammerstein Ballroom for the 11th stop on the MySpace Music Tour.

Say Anything started the show, with frontman Max Bemis stage center, flanked by two guitars on one side and a bass and additional guitar on the other. Coby Linder, tucked away on the rear of the stage, provided the crashing drums.

Bemis was astounding; his voice did not falter once as he screamed out songs through the set. The guitars raged next to him, though Parker Case eventually traded his ax for a keyboard. The band only slowed down once, when Bemis picked up a guitar of his own for "Spores," a break-up song.

Though some of Bemis's lyrics may come across as emo, and Say Anything has even been billed as an emo band, this is hardly the case. The fans Say Anything attracted were wearing sideways hats and not because they think it's ironic

Bemis came off as neither an emo-kid nor a Dude Guy. Rather, he just made it apparent that he was as excited to be there as members of his audience.

But the award for best stage presence of the night goes to Forrest Kline, simply for the fact that he danced as awkwardly as he does in Hellogoodbye's "Here (In Your Arms)" music video. He did stop to speak with the audience between each song, as Bemis did, but, when he did talk, asked to be excused for not wearing a Halloween costume. Hellogoodbye was going to perform as Team Zissou from Wes Anderson's "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou," but the costumes didn't arrive in time. As Kline had blogged on Hellogoodbye's Web site, "I've got our collective costume planned. But we dont have it yet so hopefully it turns out sexy. Cause we're gonna be the slutty version of something. Because Halloween is our opportunity to dress how we wish we could the rest of the year. which is slutty. really slutty. or very Wes Andersony. I forget."

In lieu of the "Life Aquatic," Kline started the set stating "Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society," Ã la "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" In keeping with the theme, plastic trees with fall leaves was scattered around the stage and a black sheet with light coming through pinholes simulated the night sky.

Hellogoodbye's sappy, pop-rock love songs went well with the atmosphere, though Kline acknowledged that many of those in the audience would be too young to get the reference.

To close out the set, the band played chart-topper "Here," with a little, unexpected something. Kline slipped lyrics to Daft Punk's "Digital Love" into the song, leaving some of the audience members confused and others singing along, uninterrupted.

Both Hellogoodbye and Say Anything were on the top of their game yet they should have been doing it separately. Though the bands have had members work together on EPs before they made it to the big-time, Hellogoodbye and Say Anything do not complement each other anymore. This was evidenced by how the sea of crooked hats dissipated after Say Anything's set and did not return for Hellogoodbye. While the bands may share some common fans and some history, the pre-Halloween show proved that they shouldn't share a stage.

Say hellogoodbye? Say Anything

Say hellogoodbye? Say Anything

This is just a part of the article where they talked to Forrest:

Hellogoodbye

KG: How did Hellogoodbye come together?

Forrest Kline: We were just in high school and I started recording music on a computer as a hobby. We just kind of got people together to play shows with songs we already had kind of after the fact. Then we kept playing shows.

KG: Did you ever think it would get as big as it did?

FK: No, we didn't have any plans like that. We just played on the weekends.

KG: Did you listen to Drive-Thru [Records] bands while growing up?

FK: A little bit when I was younger I listened to New Found Glory and the Starling Line, kind of.

KG: Did you ever think that you would be signed to the same label?

FK: No, we didn't plan on that.

KG: [Your song] "Oh, It is Love" being the theme song for MTV's "Engaged & Underage," was that big for you guys?

FK: I don't know how we think of it. It wasn't a big, crazy thing, but it's cool, you know.

KG: As far as music and lyric writing go, do you do it as a band or is it just you?

FK: No, it is mostly just me.

KG: How has the MySpace tour been going?

FK: It is going good. We have only played like seven shows. But it has been awesome.

KG: Has it been fun playing with Say Anything?

FK: It's cool to be doing a co-headline where we can flop back and forth.

KG: Last year on your headlining tour, you had a house-party atmosphere. Should we be expecting anything that crazy?

FK: We just have some lights…that glow.

KG: There won't be any futons?

FK: Ha ha. No.

KG: What about your favorite song to play live?

FK: It changes from night to night. Sometimes there are songs that can be your favorite and sometimes they can be your least favorite. I don't know exactly. Usually it's whatever the crowd likes.

KG: You guys are going back into the studio after this tour, aren't you? Is there anything we should be expecting, anything great coming out of your mastermind?

FK: I don't know. I have had a chance to work on a few things, but after this we are going to get some real time to hang out and do it. But I don't have a game plan.

KG: Just fly by the seat of your pants right?

FK: That's right.

KG: Do you have any words of wisdom to share with Mount students before you come and play here?

FK: No. Pay it forward.

'nother new blog from forrest!!

halloweenie reminder, interior design geeking

unless i already told you (er actually... even if i already told you), we're making our shows on the 30th (in NYC) and 31st (in allentown PA) special halloween soirees, so basically come in costume (if you don't... i dunno, you might get egged) and trick or treat at our merch table (and it's not gonna be one of those BS bowls set out on the porch with a sign thats like "please take some" because the first kid always unloads the whole thing into his plastic pumpkin tote.

also, i know the holidays are still a bit away but im planning ahead and my birthdays coming up so it got me thinking a little bit, plus im a big design fag that reads interior design blogs everyday and looks at cleverly designed dishracks trying to find the perfect ottoman... but if any of you are looking to get a friend a gift the curiosity shoppe has some of the coolest little trinkets and items. like, oh hello incredible book-bookshelf that is completely, depressingly sold out. im already way into my mini woodgrain wallet i got from there. i guess most of you still have bedrooms and not houses (i say this based only on the fact that i've been in so many of them. zing! ;););) RAWR!), but you could still decorate them super high endy and be all snobby to your parents for not knowing what an eames occasional chair is. oh wait, maybe i should plug hellogoodbye merchandise instead of other things that don't have anything to do with me, or you probably... uh.

love and caressing, forrest
